| It's part cocktail bar, part club, part restaurant, all three merging into one at some point so you might have someone spinning around with a martini in their hand nearby you as you tuck into your exquisite prawn risotto. The food is top class and the drinks - champagne and classic cocktails seem to be the order of the day - are pricey but well poured. Expect a fair share of moneyed suits and designer-clad babes, among them the odd celeb - although we saw a fair few older Mayfair men with shapely blondes on their arms. Reminded us of the Raffish 1950s. Music runs from R&B to ambient and the general feel is one of refined style - with a classy cocktail for desert. |

This two-level tiki joint is located in the heart of Mayfair. Décor-wise, we're talking lots of whicker, Hawaiian cushions and other tropical flotsam. In keeping with this theme the drinks menu includes such novelties as Pina Coladas served in pineapples or Coconut Grenades served in, you've guessed it, coconuts. If you're feeling brave opt for the Krakatoa, a volcanic creation that serves four.
Kitsch element aside, these are rather good, well-mixed and made from premium ingredient. The celeb-heavy clientele. Yes, Mahiki is one of those places that regularly clogs up the gossip columns. You feel as if you an Hawaiian. Step down into Mahiki on Dover Street for complete escapism and transport yourself to a Polynesian Paradise.
A 'treasure island' illustrated menu features classic and new innovations, cocktails for one or cocktails to share. A host of tropical creations designed to tempt and delight served in an elaborate Tiki style setting. |
